Were you born a Kirkpatrick, Kilpatrick, Colquhoun, Calhoun or Douglas? Do you descend from one of these OR are you just interested in Scottish history? Why don't you join us on our one-time-only 10-day tour of Scotland? We will visit sites and locations important to these families, (some sites not often included on the standard "stock" tours of Scotland). Of course, it won't all be sites connected to these families. We will be stopping at a fair number of general-interest sites such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, The Royal Yacht and Loch Lomond & Loch Ness.

(Rough Castle & Bar Hill Fort on the Antonine Wall and Birdoswald Fort/Hadrian's Wall)
2 Scottish Lochs with cruises (Loch Lomond & Loch Ness)
2 largest cities in Scotland (Glasgow & Edinburgh)
1 unique Scottish historical site (Greyfriar's Kirk, location of "I mak siccar")
1 rare opportunity to visit Closeburn Castle (an experience not available to many)

Day 0 Monday, June 22
Overnight flight to Glasgow




Day 1 Tuesday, June 23
Arrive in Glasgow

Night 1 Glasgow/ (***) Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatrelands or similar

Meals Dinner

Arrive- transfer to hotel, rest relax, free time for shopping,
exploring & money exchange, Glasgow City Coach tour in late afternoon.
Welcome Dinner and general meeting to outline trip, etc.




Day 2 Wednesday, June 24
Night 2 Glasgow


Meals Breakfast / Dinner

Glasgow, Luss, Loch Lomond, Dumbarton, Old Kilpatrick
Trip to Luss and Loch Lomond, lake cruise, Dumbarton Castle, explore
Old Kilpatrick then Return to hotel. Free time until dinner




Day 3 Thursday, June 25
Night 3 Glasgow


Meals Breakfast (dinner on your own)

Glasgow/Antonine Wall:
Trip to the Antonine Wall sites (Rough Castle site at Falkirk &
Bar Hill Fort near Kilsyth) Return to Glasgow for a tour of Glasgow's
Hunterian Museum OR Time to research at the West of Scotland Family
History Society Research Centre and Library

Day 4 Friday, June 26
Glasgow, Closeburn, Dumfries

Night 4 Dumfries /(***) Cairndale Hotel or Similar

Meals Breakfast /Dinner

Leave Glasgow and drive south towards Dumfries via M7 and A76 stopping at
Drumlanring Castle seat of the Douglases & Closeburn, the seat of Clan Kirkpatrick.
Time here for photos of the Closeburn Kirk and Cemetery, Closeburn Castle and the general area.
On to Dumfries, overview city bus tour then to our hotel
Free time to explore and shop after dinner




Day 5 Saturday, June 27
Night 5 Dumfries


Meals Breakfast / Dinner

Morning, researching at the Dumfries and
Galloway Family History Society (Closes at 1 PM)
Afternoon, explore the Bridge House,
the Robert Burns Centre, the Robert Burns House, Burns'
mausoleum, Grey Friars Kirk (present location & original location with Plaque)

Day 6 Sunday, June 28
Night 6 Dumfries


Meals Breakfast /Dinner

Dumfries, Caerlaverock Castle
Morning Trip to Caerlaverock Castle
Afternoon free for shopping and exploring Dumfries




Day 7 Monday, June 29
Night 7 Edinburgh

Meals Breakfast / Dinner

Dumfries, Carlisle, Hermitage, Edinburgh
After breakfast we're off to view Hadrian's Wall & Birdoswald Roman Fort near Carlisle,
then on to our hotel near Edinburgh via a stop to visit/tour the
Hermitage Castle, home of the Douglases (north of Newcastleton)
Arrive at our Edinburgh area hotel and settle in.




Day 8 Tuesday, June 30
Night 8 Edinburgh


Meals Breakfast / Dinner with entertainment

Morning Edinburgh Castle tour with time for shopping on The Royal Mile
& lunch (on your own)
Afternoon Tour the Royal Yacht, Britannia with a short coach tour of Edinburgh.




Day 9 Wednesday, July 1
Night 9 Glasgow

Meals Breakfast /Farewell Dinner

Inverness, Loch Ness, Fort William, Glencoe, Glasgow
Up early for a day-long tour of the Scottish Highlands traveling to & through
Inverness, Loch Ness & Urquhart Castle w/a boat ride on the Loch,
Ft. William & Ben Nevis
(viewed from a distance), Glencoe,
then back to Glasgow for our final night.




Day 10 Thursday, July 2

Off to the airport and fly home




Every effort will be made to follow the above itinerary, but in the
event of unforeseen events beyond our control there may be changes.





Included in the price are accommodations in 3 and 4 star hotels, ground & water transportation through out Scotland, 17 meals (9 breakfasts & 8 dinners) including 1 gala dinner with traditional Scottish entertainment, admissions to all named venues. Not included are all tips and gratuities, transportation to and from Glasgow from you home city, any baggage fees, travel insurance, lunch daily, 1 dinner, souvenirs and all items of a personal nature, any optional admissions and events, any and all items not expressly mentioned.
